As for Firewall rules, be sure the services redirect to "SRM" as Destination. The only firewall rule is for VPNPlus. As written already, that is to less.

When I use the same server and credentials on my Windows machine (same network) I have no problem. I also tried both UDP and TCP options in the OpenVPN files. I’m running an L2TP/IPSEC Server Server on my Synology Diskstation. I’d like to separate the VPN traffic from the rest, using a separate LAN port.
